The Emerging Leaders Tax Discussion Session provides a forum for the next generation of industry leaders to further engage with The Tax Institute member network and develop technical and professional skills.

Session Topic: Structuring for Property Development

Given the ever-evolving property environment, this practical case study based session will consider structuring property ownership arrangements including exploring:

  • Ideal ownership structures for acquisition and development, including development for sale versus development for rent and revenue/capital account considerations
  • Use of rollovers to convert long term passively held property into a structure appropriate for development
  • Use of bare trusts to avoid double duty on subdivision arrangements.
