Welcome to the 3rd National Infrastructure Conference, the only conference focused entirely on tax issues affecting infrastructure. The conference will be held at the Sheraton Hotel in Melbourne from 25 to 26 May 2017.

Investment in infrastructure is critical for maintaining living standards and creating the conditions in which our economy can continue to grow. Governments in Australia are increasingly looking to the private sector to develop and maintain roads, ports, pipelines, power and other essential infrastructure assets. The recent releases of a Tax Framework Document and Tax Alert on staples means there is much to debate.

Our conference program covers many issues that are relevant to our industry, including privatisation issues, debt/equity rules/Div 855/Div 6C interaction, applying anti-avoidance rules to staples, social infrastructure update, gifted assets and valuation. Jeremy Hirschhorn of the ATO and Darren Anderson from BIS Oxford Economics will deliver keynote addresses. Our panel discussions on FIRB and privatisation are sure to be highlights involving lots of robust debate.

A conference dinner at the Sheraton will provide ample opportunity to catch up with colleagues from professional firms, corporates and the ATO. We look forward to seeing you in Melbourne in May.
